President Trump ordered a military attack against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Friday, joining allies Britain and France in launching missile strikes in retaliation for what Western nations said was the deliberate gassing of Syrian civilians.

EDITOR’S NOTE: As we have been telling you all week, the United States was planning to launch a military strike against the Assad regime in Syria. Tonight that attack, aided by both France and the UK, was carried out with stunning efficiency. So far there has been no response from Russia who has vowed repeatedly to meet any attack with equal force. We will be following this breaking story as it develops. 

The coordinated strike marked the second time in a year that Trump has used force against Assad, who U.S. officials believe has continued to test the West’s willingness to accept gruesome chemical attacks.

Trump announced the strikes in an address to the nation Friday evening.

The assault followed repeated threats of military action from Trump, who has been moved by civilian suffering to set aside his concerns about foreign military conflicts, since the reported chemical attack that killed civilians in the rebel-held town outside Damascus last weekend.

The operation capped nearly a week of debate in which Pentagon leaders voiced concerns that an attack could pull the United States into Syria’s civil war and trigger a dangerous conflict with Assad ally Russia — without necessarily halting chemical attacks.

Both Syria and Russia have denied involvement in the attack, which Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov alleged had been staged.

The episode is the latest illustration of the hazards arising from a conflict that has killed an estimated half-million people and drawn in world powers since it began as a peaceful uprising in 2011.

The attack raised the possibility of retaliation by Russia or Iran, which also provides military support to Assad, threatening in particular to increase the risks facing a force of 2,000 Americans in Syria, as part of the battle against the Islamic State. While the United States has not been at war with the Syrian government, U.S. troops often operate in proximity to those from Iranian- or Russian-backed groups.

In the wake of last weekend’s gruesome attack, some U.S. officials advocated a larger, and therefore riskier, strike than the limited action Trump had ordered in April 2017, also in response to suspected chemical weapons use.

That attack involved 59 Tomahawk missiles fired from two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea. It fulfilled Trump’s vow that chemical weapons are a “red line” that he, unlike his predecessor Barack Obama, would not allow Assad to cross. But the airfield targeted by the Pentagon resumed operations shortly after the attack and, according to Western intelligence assessments, chemical attacks resumed.

Assad’s defiance has presented Trump with a choice of whether to make a larger statement and incur a larger risk this time. Planning for these strikes focused on ways to curb Assad’s ability to use such weapons again.

Risks of a wider attack include the possibility of a dangerous escalation with Russia, whose decision to send its military to Syria in 2015 reversed the course of the war in Assad’s favor. Since then, Russia has used Syria as a testing ground for some of its most sophisticated weaponry.

Shortly after Trump began a White House address to announce the action, large explosions were heard in the Syrian capital Damascus, signalling a new chapter in a brutal seven-year-old civil war.

“A short time ago, I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,” Trump said in a primetime televised speech to the nation.

Trump also warned Russia and Iran not to stand by their ally in Damascus. “Russia must decide if it will continue down this dark path or if it will join with civilized nations as a force for stability and peace,” he argued.

“Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’ ” Trump tweeted Wednesday, referring to U.S. missiles. That took military officials by surprise. But on Thursday, Trump said he did not mean to suggest missile strikes were imminent.

“Never said when an attack on Syria would take place,” he tweeted. “Could be very soon or not so soon at all!”

A larger strike, possibly including stealth aircraft and strikes on multiple sites, could inflict lasting damage to military facilities and economic infrastructure that have been vital to Assad’s ability to gain the upper hand in a seven-year civil war.

Since last year’s strike, multiple chemical attacks have been reported in opposition areas, most of them involving chlorine rather than the nerve agent sarin, as was used in 2017, suggesting the government may have adjusted its tactics.

Among the chief factors military planners must consider are air defenses in Syria, which were bolstered by Russia’s decision to enter the war in 2015 and could pose a threat should the Pentagon employ manned aircraft in the attack. Their reach was demonstrated in February when an Israeli F-16 fighter jet crashedamid Syrian antiaircraft fire.

The United States has flown an array of aircraft over Syria since it began strikes against the Islamic State in 2014, but those operations have mostly steered clear of government and Russian activities. The Assad regime has not authorized the U.S. operations, but it also has not tried to shoot down American aircraft. source

At the very same time, the U.S. has restarted strikes against Iranian targets after renewed attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, with CENTCOM calling Iran’s actions a violation of the ceasefire. Hey, Christian, if you’ve been waiting for the end times to start, you’re already late to the party.

NATO Summit In Turkey Puts Trump Beside Recep Tayyip Erdoğan As Weapons, Alliances, Ukraine And Israel’s Regional Security All Collide

Donald Trump is in Turkey for the NATO Summit in Ankara, and that makes the whole scene far more significant than a routine diplomatic photo-op. He is standing in Ankara, at the center of the Western military alliance, being warmly received by enemy of Israel Recep Tayyip Erdoğan while NATO gathers to discuss defense spending, weapons production, Ukraine, and the future of global military power. This is not merely Trump visiting a foreign leader; this is Trump under the NATO banner, beneath the Turkish crescent and star, surrounded by soldiers, jets, smoke trails, and the unmistakable theater of state power.

Erdoğan is not simply another NATO head of state, he has repeatedly positioned Turkey as a major Islamic power broker and has been one of the loudest anti-Israel voices in the alliance. Yet Trump, who has sold himself to evangelical Christians as Israel’s greatest political defender, is being celebrated by a leader whose rhetoric and regional ambitions run directly against Israel’s interests. The contradiction is glaring: praise Israel in one speech, embrace Erdoğan in the next, and expect Christians to call it “4D chess” and the “art of the deal”. Nothing could be further from the truth. And give Israel’s enemy f-35 fighter jets? Yikes.

 President Trump said he was lifting sanctions that bar the sale of certain military equipment to Turkey — potentially paving the way for the provision of advanced F-35 fighter jets. “We don’t want to sanction friends,” Trump told reporters.

Behind the pageantry is the real issue: weapons, leverage, and power. Reports surrounding the summit have included the possibility of Turkey returning to the F-35 fighter jet program, despite Turkey being removed after purchasing Russia’s S-400 missile system. Israel has reportedly raised serious concerns about what advanced American stealth fighters in Erdoğan’s hands could mean for the regional balance of power. So this is not just a handshake. It is a NATO summit in Turkey, hosted by Erdoğan, with Israel’s security concerns sitting in the background while Trump plays dealmaker on the world stage.

The student of prophecy should see this for what it is: not peace, not loyalty, and not righteousness, but end-times diplomacy in motion. The kings of the earth gather, flatter, bargain, arm, threaten, and realign while Israel remains the burdensome stone at the center of it all. The world calls it diplomacy. NATO calls it alliance management. The media calls it strategy. But the watchman sees another reminder that no prince, no president, no alliance, and no global summit can be trusted.

Iran’s Regime Was Supposed To Fall, But World War Trump Only Hardened Tehran Into A Much More Dangerous Enemy Of Israel And America

Trump’s war with Iran did not produce regime change, it produced regime reinforcement. After all the bombs, all the bravado, all the ridiculous chest-thumping press conferences and victory laps, the Iranian regime is still standing. Not only is it standing, it is standing harder, colder, more paranoid, more ruthless, and more committed than before. Trump promised strength, but what he delivered was another unfinished American war in the Middle East, one that gave the mullahs a new survival story to sell to their people. They can now say they endured the wrath of America and Israel, buried their dead, absorbed the strikes, and still remained in power. Trump has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

“Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.” Luke 14:29,30 (KJB)

On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, the bitter irony is that Trump mocked the weakness of every president before him, only to produce the same tired result: bombs dropped, speeches given, victory declared, and the enemy still alive. Iran’s nuclear ambitions remain. Iran’s terror networks remain. Iran’s hatred of Israel remains. Iran’s hatred of America remains. The Revolutionary Guard remains. The Islamic system remains. The only thing that changed is that Tehran now knows exactly how far Trump is willing to go — and where he will stop. That is dangerous information for them to now have. A wounded enemy is bad enough, but a wounded enemy that knows you don’t intend to finish the fight is worse. Way worse. America was told that Trump had changed the game, but the game looks painfully familiar. Washington bombs, Israel braces, Iran survives, and the world continues to grow more unstable. The regime that was supposed to fall is now more hard-line, more suspicious, and more determined. Trump has not eradicated them, Trump has energized them. The war that was supposed to weaken the mullahs instead has strengthened their hand. The president who promised regime change may have instead handed the regime its next chapter. That is not victory. That is World War Trump producing exactly what unfinished wars always produce: stronger enemies, greater deception, deeper instability, and a world moving one step closer to the time of Jacob’s trouble.
