As we discussed on our Podcast earlier today, 2025 has begun with a literal bang of end times activity, giving us the portent of a very crazy, wild year now stretching out before us. As Bible believers, we need to be very active now, not hiding from the world, but preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God to a lost and dying world that needs Jesus. One of the best ways to do that is to send out truckloads full of King James Bibles, New Testaments, scripture portions and gospel tracts through our Bibles Behind Bars program. The chaplains receiving them on the other end are counting on our support.

Today we sent King James Bibles in English and in Spanish to the South Florida Reception Center, Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, Montana State Prison, Salem Correctional Center & Jail, Garza West Unit, and the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Praise the Lord! Not to mention all the individual Ruckman Reference Bibles we sent out this week through our Free Bible Program. We even had a prisoner email us directly from the Columbus Correctional Institution in North Carolina asking us for an RRB, and that sent out as well. At this time of the year, people seem to be more in tune to want to give because of the focus on the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ. How well I remember thirty three and a half years ago opening up a King James Bible from a free Bible program, turning to John 3:16, believing what I read and getting saved. Jesus provided His great gift to us on the cross at Calvary, and we who believe are tasked with bringing that gift to everyone and anyone who might want to receive it. Especially to the oft-forgotten “least of these” inmates sitting this Christmas in jails and prisons across America.

“Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” 2 Corinthians 2 13-15 (KJB)

King James Bibles and Spanish Bibles have already been shipped out to the Indian River Correctional Institute in Florida, Craven County Sheriff Detention Center in North Carolina, and the Goose Creek Correctional Center in Alaska. Between Christmas and New Years we will ship out to the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in New York, Salem Correctional Center & Jail in West Virginia, the Dominguez State Jail and the Garza West Unit in Texas. We still need your help with the Montana State Prison, the South Florida Reception Center, the Minnesota Department of Corrections, and the three newcomers Santa Rosa, Baker Re-Entry and Northwest Florida Reception. Every time we get close to the end of the list, new jails and prisons come aboard, and praise the Lord for that. As a happy result, we are now on track to hit 500,000 pieces of gospel literature given out in the first quarter of 2025!

I thought our current roster of jails and prisons needing King James Bibles was large enough, but apparently the LORD has other ideas. To that end, this week we welcome Chaplain Gary Wieborg of the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution, Chaplain Lloyd Lykins of the Northwest Florida Reception Center Main Unit, and Chaplain Michael Seals of the Baker Re-Entry and Work Camp. That last one is especially exciting to me because it trains and equips prisoners to reenter society, and we get to send them Bibles!

“As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.” Psalm 18:30 (KJB)

Chaplain Seals wrote to us to say “We are a Re-Entry center, and the men here will be getting out of prison, and we are attempting to do a good work. The word of God does not return back void it accomplishes what it sets forth to accomplish.” Amen to that, brother, and we here at Bibles Behind Bars want very much to assist the work that the LORD has called you to do at Baker. Newcomers Santa Rosa, Northwest Florida Reception and Baker Re-Entry are our three latest additions, and three more opportunities to get something done for the LORD before time is called.
