Some of the inmates in many of the places we send Bible to have done some really bad things, but Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross at Calvary for the vilest offender. This is why we send out King James Bibles!

There are few things scarier than summoning up pictures in your mind of a state-run, maximum security mental hospital for violent offenders and the criminally insane. Movies like ‘Inception’ and ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ are two of the ones I think of. Truly scary stuff. But what Hollywood doesn’t show you, and never will show you, is the incredible work that’s being done by prison chaplains in places like Atascadero to see the inmate patients get saved by giving them the gospel and a King James Bible.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 (KJB)

Chaplain Anderson at the Atascadero Maximum Security State Forensics Hospital In California reached out to us a short time ago, wondering if we could supply them with King James Bibles, and I told him we would be happy to do that. As I sit here writing this article, King James Bibles are now also being sent to the Northwest Florida Reception Center Main Unit in Chipley, Florida, the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Milton, Florida, and to the Dominguez State Jail in San Antonio, Texas. We never seem to come to the end of our list because new facilities are reaching out every week to us. Some of the inmates in many of the places we send Bible to have done some really bad things, but Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross at Calvary for the vilest offender. These are the people we are reaching with King James Bibles, New Testaments, scripture portions and our brand-new NTEB ‘Book Box’, and we have seen hundreds of them come to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Chaplain Shaun at the Richland Parish Detention Center in Louisiana will be the very first to receive our brand-new ‘Book Box’ sent out with the Bibles he requested.

I received an email today from Chaplain Shaun at the Richland Parish Detention Center in Louisiana, where he told us of his need for Bibles, as well as sharing a little of his heart regarding the inmates he ministers to on a daily basis. The email reads ” I have multiple inmates requesting Bibles. I handed out over 120 Bibles last year and helped those receiving them to know where to begin reading, how to interpret what was read, and encouraged to keep reading. Any help would be greatly appreciated.” When I read that, I see two things. First and foremost, he needs Bibles in his jail which we are happy to provide, and second, he needs discipleship materials to go along with the Bibles. Because of that request, he will be receiving the very first Bibles Behind Bars ‘Book Box’ to help him as he ministers where the Lord has put him. Praise the LORD for His provision!

“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:30,31 (KJB)

Because of your continued prayer and support, Bibles Behind Bars is growing and expanding as we hold up the hands of the chaplains, pastors and personal workers who minister to the inmates in jails and prisons all across America. We are so very excited to now be sending out the ‘Book Box’ that contains a dozen copies each of “CPR The Biblical Guide To Soul Winning”, “What Must I Do To Be Saved?”, and one geared directly to the inmates, Roy Bell’s new book “Justified Outlaw”. Right now with the current number of requests we have waiting to go out, we need to raise $8,500 to meet that need. To date, we have had 659 inmates who have heard the gospel of the grace of God and surrendered to Jesus for salvation, all of whom received a Bible from us. Now inmates will also receive these excellent Bible teaching books as well, and it’s all thanks to each and every one of y’all.

9 men got saved at the Christmas Service in Goose Creek Correctional Center in Alaska after we sent them Bibles last year

Last November, we sent hundreds of King James Bibles to the Goose Creek Correctional Center, located in Wasilla, Alaska. The Bibles arrived right before Christmas, and Chaplain Patterson was delighted to see them arrive at exactly the right time, ahead of a special service they had planned for the inmates. The LORD has the best timing in everything, amen? Amen!

“Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.” Acts 28:28 (KJB)

Well, I got a hand-written letter just the other day from chap, with some glorious news from a far country, Alaska to be precise, telling us how 162 inmates came out for the Special Service at Christmas, resulting in 9 men surrendering to get saved!!

As the chaplain at Goose Creek Correctional here in Alaska, we are so very thankful for the Bibles you sent us. They arrived a week before Christmas, what a blessing! I began distributing them to the segregated intake unit as well as the general population to help the men we invited to the Christmas service. Well, 162 inmates came out, resulting in 9 of them surrendering to Jesus for salvation. Thanks to Bibles Behind Bars, we have the Bibles they need to grow in their faith.
