The Foolishness Of Preaching

Christmas Eve notwithstanding, there was coldness and a deadness in the collective mood of the people on St. George street this afternoon.

The Foolishness Of Preaching
SHARE NOW THE END BEGINS:

Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted

For entirely different reasons, my friend Kim and I have been going through the healing phases of a broken heart. Kim because of the death of a child, and me because of the death of a dearly held and fondly wished-for dream. But it doesn’t really matter what breaks your heart, does it? When it breaks, it cracks into a million, tiny pieces. Christmas time, with all it’s poignant secular songs and nostalgia-tinged trappings, always seems to amplify whatever emotions you are feeling.

“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” 1 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV)

The good feelings get great, and the not-so-good becomes overwhelmingly sorrowful. A good friend and Christian brother of mine,  who is a homicide detective told me yesterday that most of the calls he gets at this time of the year are suicide calls. Sometimes a broken heart can kill you. Literally.

So Kim turned to me the other day and said “I think we should go street preaching on Christmas Eve. Wanna go?” I thought about it for a minute and agreed we should, broken hearts and all. Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted, right? The bible says He did:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18 (KJV)

We got to the street, as we have for nearly 3 years now, filled our hands with gospel tracts, scripture signs, and proclaimed the death, burial, resurrection and soon return of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. Christmas Eve notwithstanding, there was coldness and a deadness in the collective mood of the people on St. George street this afternoon. 72 degrees outside, but with a spiritual chill in the air.

A woman got right in my face and demanded that we stop preaching as her and her mother were trying to “enjoy their lunch” on the balcony of the restaurant over where we where. Then the mother chiming in then leaned over the balcony railing and said “I’m a Christian too, but you are ruining our lunch with all this talk about Jesus. Why don’t you leave?” What type of Christian gets their meal ruined by hearing about the goodness of Jesus Christ, and at Christmas time no less? I honestly don’t know, but she and her daughter evidently did.

There were other people who, when they saw us, folded their arms across their chests and silently mouthed the word “no” as they passed. One day before Christmas, and no sign of any love for the Birthday Boy. We preached on.

There was a family of 4 Muslims who, after stopping to listen to us for a while, each took a Kristin tract. Amazing. There was one young man who listened covertly, or so he thought, and then came up to me and said “you guys really gave me something to think about today, thank you.” The precious few who respond like that make all the rejection worthwhile.

One man with his wife told me he was a “good person”. I politely told him the bible says that there are no “good people”. At this he stopped, put his mouth right by my ear and said “I am as Christian as they come, but you guys are doing it wrong.” I replied that “then maybe you are not as much of a Christian as you think you are.” He walked on, muttering and mocking.

And so it went, one by one the hundreds of people passed by and listened to the Gospel preached in spirit, truth, power and love. Call us compromisers if you like, but we do preach with love and tenderness, not just “fire and brimstone”. We pleaded with them to get saved while there was still time, maybe some will. I don’t know. But what I do know is simply this:

For a little less than 2 hours today, we looked past our own sorrows and disappointments, and tried to help some lost people change their eternal destiny. For just a moment, we forgot about our own broken hearts and gave the Lord the glory that He deserves. We became “fools” for the Lord Jesus Christ and left the results in His hands. We did what the Lord did, we preached on the street by divine appointment. For just a few hours we stopped thinking of ourselves and thought of others.

God is good all the time, and today I am thankful for everything He has allowed into my life. Even my broken heart.

“God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.” 2 Samuel 22:33 (KJV)

APOCALYPTIC INFERNO: Out Of Control Fire Rages Across The Pacific Palisades In California As Week One Of The New Year Officially Comes To A Close

Published

on

SHARE NOW THE END BEGINS:

Fearsome winds forced crews to ground firefighting aircraft in the battle against the Palisades fire on Tuesday night, making it even more challenging for firefighters to get a handle on the fast-growing blaze.

As of yesterday, the new year of 2025 was officially one week old and yet has so far managed to pack about 3 months worth of news into that 7-day period. Donald Trump is still 12 days away from being sworn in, and the Palisades fire is an excellent type picture of what it feels like in this new year. It feels like everything all around us is literally on fire like the fire ravaging the Palisades right now.

Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fireand in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.” Isaiah 50:11 (KJB)

Another problem they are having in California right now is they are running out of water, and because of that, efforts are now focused more on evacuation than they are on putting the fire out. Amid the hellish backdrop of the apocalyptic inferno, evacuation notices were placed along the affluent coastal region, with a chilling warning which read: ‘Immediate threat to life.’ Pray for the people in California, pray for a quick end to these fires, pray for the Lord to use you in these end times. That’s the memo.

Palisades fire: Worst is ‘yet to come’ as winds gain speed, ground aircraft

FROM THE LOS ANGELES TIMES: The use of aircraft was halted shortly before 8 p.m., and Los Angeles fire officials said they would continually reassess weather conditions to determine when they might be used again, said Margaret Stewart with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire remained 0% contained at 11 p.m. Tuesday as “extreme fire behavior” continued to challenge firefighters, according to the L.A. County Fire Department. Wind gusts up to 60 mph were expected to continue through Thursday. The fire ignited at Piedra Morada Drive at 10:30 a.m. and had scorched 2,921 acres by early evening, forcing more than 30,000 residents to flee their homes. The extreme wind event blasting Southern California was forecast to peak between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday, posing a serious challenge to overnight efforts to combat the growing blaze.

“This event is not only not over, but it is just getting started and will get significantly worse before it gets better,” UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain said in a briefing just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The strongest and most widespread winds are “yet to come,” Swain said, as is the lowest humidity. L.A. County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone had warned around 4 p.m. Tuesday that increasing winds could make an air attack unfeasible. Although it might be frustrating for residents to see firefighting aircraft grounded, extreme winds can make those efforts less effective, as water or retardant that is dropped is immediately dispersed by the wind, said Gov. Gavin Newsom, who visited the site of the Palisades fire Tuesday.

“We can be up there all day, making people feel good,” he said, “but we’re not doing any good.”

The combination of extreme winds and critically low humidity created a dangerous recipe for new fires to break out overnight.

“We are anticipating — hopefully we’re wrong — but we’re anticipating other fires happening,” Newsom said at 4 p.m, adding that the state had strategically positioned resources in areas of high fire risk.

By around 6:30 p.m., that prediction had come true as the Eaton fire broke out in the hills above Altadena near Eaton Canyon. It had burned about 1,000 acres by late Tuesday night, prompting evacuations in the area west of the Eaton Canyon Golf Course, according to the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Foresty and Fire Protection. The strong winds led officials to suspend air coverage of the Eaton fire for the evening, Derderian said at 8:45 p.m.

Around 10:10 p.m., a brush fire, dubbed the Hurst fire, ignited in Sylmar and quickly spread to 100 acres, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Meanwhile, the Palisades fire continued to charge forward, threatening thousands of homes and scores of businesses. READ MORE

HERE IT COMES AGAIN: CDC Reports That The First H5 Bird Flu Death Has Occurred 13 Days Before Donald Trump Is Slated To Be Sworn In As President

Published

on

SHARE NOW THE END BEGINS:

A Louisiana man has become the first person in the United States to die of avian influenza, Bird Flu, the CDC reported on Monday.

Just in time for Donald Trump to be inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States, the first person to die from Bird Flu has now been recorded. Are we at the beginning of another pandemic? It sure seems that way, and it sure feels a lot like it did back in January of 2020. Welcome to 2025, new year is officially one week old today. Feels like a month though, doesn’t it?

“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 (KJB)

The coming events they’ve prepared for us in 2025 may be shocking, but they won’t be too surprising if you’ve been paying even the least bit of attention these past 1,758 Days of 15 Days To Flatten The Curve. What would a bird flu pandemic look like? A whole like like the COVID pandemic, and how much you want to bet they’ve already created the mRNA vaccines? Just as we told you last time, the vaccines will be deadly and you’ll be very sorry you took them, so don’t. Funny thing, the last pandemic happened when Trump was president, and the last vaccine came through the Trump presidency. Now it would appear that, as COVID was a hallmark of his first term, so bird flu will be in his second term. Oh, how the Deep State loves irony. You better stay ‘safe, sane and sanitized’, the Songbird is getting ready to sing.

First H5 Bird Flu Death Reported in United States

FROM THE CDC: CDC is saddened by Louisiana’s report that a person previously hospitalized with severe avian influenza A(H5N1) illness (“H5N1 bird flu”) has passed away. While tragic, a death from H5N1 bird flu in the United States is not unexpected because of the known potential for infection with these viruses to cause severe illness and death. As of January 6, 2025, there have been 66 confirmed human cases of H5N1 bird flu in the United States since 2024 and 67 since 2022.

This is the first person in the United States who has died as a result of an H5 infection. Outside the United States, more than 950 cases of H5N1 bird flu have been reported to the World Health Organization; about half of those have resulted in death.

CDC has carefully studied the available information about the person who died in Louisiana and continues to assess that the risk to the general public remains low. Most importantly, no person-to-person transmission spread has been identified. As with the case in Louisiana, most H5 bird flu infections are related to animal-to-human exposures. Additionally, there are no concerning virologic changes actively spreading in wild birds, poultry, or cows that would raise the risk to human health. (CDC reported previously on its analysis of the viruses isolated from the patient in Louisiana.) However, people with job-related or recreational exposures to infected birds or other animals are at greater risk of infection. For these and others, CDC has developed prevention resources about how to protect yourself. READ MORE
