On Monday we are going to order 800 King James hardcover pew Bibles for Crosswater Church, at a cost of somewhere between $8-10 thousand dollars. Are you in?

Over the years, we’ve gotten requests for Bibles from many jails, countless prisons, myriad migrant detention centers, you name it. It’s a blessing to be able to meet their need for copies of God’s preserved word. But never in my wildest dreams did I see this one coming, a request for Bibles from a church in the most-affluent area of Northeast Florida, Nocatee.

“Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:21 (KJB)

Crosswater Community Church for many years was firmly aligned with Rick Warren and the Purpose Driven Church crowd. Lots of sizzle, but sadly no steak. One of the ‘improvements’ made under this setup was a removal of Bibles from the pews, with people being directed to look at words on the screen or on their mobile devices. Churches that operate like this experience a fairly high turnover rate because when no one is getting fed, people leave. A church without Bibles in the pew is not a church, it’s a social club. Then the Lord started doing something new.

Recently, the Lord moved in a new man to helm the pulpit, Pastor Josh, along with some on-fire people like Daniella who reached out to us 2 weeks ago. The Lord gave her a burden, led her to our billboard in downtown Saint Augustine, and she reached out with an amazing thing to tell us. She loved Crosswater and the preaching of Pastor Josh, but every time he said “open your Bibles please…” there was silence in the church because no one had a Bible. This was unacceptable, and it broke her heart. She told us what her burden from the Lord was, asked if the Free Bible Program was available to a church like Crosswater, and that she was willing to donate a thousand dollars towards getting Bibles in the pews. Wow, never saw that coming in a million years.

She gave me Pastor Josh’s contact info and we set up a meeting, and they all came to meet with Lori and myself at the NTEB Bookstore. We talked from 10:30 AM straight through to 1:00 PM, and we covered just about everything having to do with our ministry and his new church. Pastor Josh is a strong Bible believer who’s bringing rightly divided preaching and teaching back to the pulpit. Now they just need the Bibles to go with it. I told him that I would put it before our NTEB people to see if this was something they would support, sharing it first on the Podcast today and now again here in this article.

Christian, I believe that NTEB is one of the most-unique ministries in the world, and the Lord is using us to get something done in these last days that is truly remarkable. In a time where all the major Christian bookstore are shutting down, we opened one up. In a time when other bible-sending ministries are scaling back on their support of the jails, we are increasing ours. Every day we get requests for free Bibles and gospel tracts, and we fill every one. Honestly, putting Bibles into a church wasn’t even on the list, and yet the Lord says here you go, do something with this. Amen, Lord! On Monday we are going to order 800 King James hardcover pew Bibles for Crosswater Church, at a cost of somewhere between $8-10 thousand dollars. We are doing this by faith, and trusting the Lord to touch each and every heart necessary to raise this money without going into debt or putting it on a credit card.

If you want ministry, God will give you all you want, and He is literally dumping it on us in a mighty way. I am excited to support Pastor Josh and the new Crosswater Church like this, it’s real First Century, boots-on-the-ground biblical Christianity.
