9 men got saved at the Christmas Service in Goose Creek Correctional Center in Alaska after we sent them Bibles last year

Last November, we sent hundreds of King James Bibles to the Goose Creek Correctional Center, located in Wasilla, Alaska. The Bibles arrived right before Christmas, and Chaplain Patterson was delighted to see them arrive at exactly the right time, ahead of a special service they had planned for the inmates. The LORD has the best timing in everything, amen? Amen!

“Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.” Acts 28:28 (KJB)

Well, I got a hand-written letter just the other day from chap, with some glorious news from a far country, Alaska to be precise, telling us how 162 inmates came out for the Special Service at Christmas, resulting in 9 men surrendering to get saved!!

As the chaplain at Goose Creek Correctional here in Alaska, we are so very thankful for the Bibles you sent us. They arrived a week before Christmas, what a blessing! I began distributing them to the segregated intake unit as well as the general population to help the men we invited to the Christmas service. Well, 162 inmates came out, resulting in 9 of them surrendering to Jesus for salvation. Thanks to Bibles Behind Bars, we have the Bibles they need to grow in their faith. Hundreds of souls have gotten saved in the state of Texas through the efforts of Bibles Behind Bars as we hold up the hands of the chaplains and preachers who minister in the jails and prisons

You many not know Brent Rogers, but for many years now, Bro. Brent has been reaching out to our Bibles Behind Bars program on a regular basis, asking for King James Bibles in English and in Spanish. He reached out to me the other day with a wonderful update on what God has been doing with the cases and cases of Bibles we have been sending.

“And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.” Acts 13:49 (KJB)

Bro. Brent writes: “These Bibles that you are sending to south Texas are going to a Preacher friend of mine named Art Sustaita whom I have known for almost 30 years. We both work for UPS here in the Rio Grande valley. I led brother Art to the Lord 6 years ago and he has not looked back ever since. His prison ministry has lasted 3 years and he has brought at least a couple hundred souls to the Lord. So yes, these Bibles are a blessing to those who receive them. Again Pastor, thank you and your staff for all that you do. Luv you guys! God bless you all!” Wow, what a blessing, praise the LORD!!

If you ask me just how many Bibles we’ve sent to Bro. Brent, I honestly couldn’t tell you because we’ve only recently started keeping a count, but I know it’s a lot of Bibles over a period of quite a few years now. And I know this. However many it is, and what it costs to continue to do that for them pales in comparison to a harvest a souls like what the LORD is giving us here. A good educated guess would place that number at right around 1,000 people who heard the gospel, got saved and were given a Bibles Behind Bars bible. Now we don’t physically go to these prisons in Texas and preach, but we sure support the ones God has called by giving them all the King James Bibles, New Testaments, gospel tracts, scripture portions and gospel literature they need. So when souls get saved as a result, all of us here at NTEB who pray for and financially support Bibles Behind Bars get a piece of that fruit at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Talk about some wild ‘deferred payment’, amen! Chaplain CF Hazelwood in Texas needs about 500 large print King James Bibles right now, as do three prisons here in the state of Florida. We need your help to meet that need.

Bibles Behind Bars is expanding our gospel literature lineup to include “CPR The Biblical Guide To Soul Winning”, “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” and “Justified Outlaw”

This is the third year of the Bibles Behind Bars program, and as it grows it’s also maturing as we respond to the needs of the chaplains, pastors and personal workers who write to us asking for Bibles. In 2024, with the Bibles we starting sending copies of “What Must I Do To Be Saved” with other gospel literature, and the chaplains were very happy to receive them. Then in November, the LORD gave us an opportunity to rebuild the entire inmate library at the Jefferson County Jail in Wisconsin. Now here in the opening month of 2025, the LORD is expanding our prison outreach yet again. Praise the LORD!!

“So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.” Nehemiah 8:8 (KJB)

Prison ministry is hard work, and the people that God calls to that field labour very intently and intensely. Yes, the inmates need a King James Bible, that’s first and foremost, but in addition to that, as they get saved and grow, they need other literature to assist them in that process. How great would it be if the chaplains had access to excellent books like “CPR The Biblical Guide To Soul Winning”, and “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” Talk about a one-two punch! Rounding that out, and geared directly to the inmates, Roy Bell’s book “Justified Outlaw”, something that they can not only relate to, but hopefully see as a positive and motivational force for their spiritual growth.

One our Tuesday night Bible study program last night, I asked the people listening live in the chat room if they thought that this was something we should do, and the response was immediate and certain. Going forward with each new request for Bibles, we will also be sending copies of all three of these books. The chaplains who receive them can prayerfully decide how and when to distribute them to the inmates. At the moment, we are still raising funds to send Bibles to the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution, Northwest Florida Reception Center Main Unit, the Baker Re-Entry and Work Camp, and to the main Texas prison system under Chaplain CF Hazlewood.
