3 years later, Bibles Behind Bars is staying true to our mandate from God to send His preserved word into as many jails and prisons as we possibly can.

Bibles Behind Bars grew out of our Free Bible Program the day the LORD opened the floodgates for us to send out that first shipment of 1,500 King James Bibles to the prison in Port St. Lucie here in Florida. Since then, we have sent out Bibles to dozens and dozens of jails and prisons all across America. Not only that, we also send out New Testaments, scripture portions, Spanish Bibles and Christian literature of all kinds. We even restocked an entire prison library in Wisconsin! We have always promised the more you give, the more we will do, and by God’s grace are keeping that promise each and every day.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20 (KJB)

One exciting new project that is still in the planning stages is from the door the LORD opened last year with the NTEB Relief Convoy bringing Bibles, food, clothing and water to hurricane victims in North Carolina. We now have the opportunity to purchase a trailer that Charlton will operate from North Georgia, and it will deliver Bibles, books and supplies where needed throughout a multi-state region. A small shed warehouse is also in the planning stages where everything will be stored until needed. If we get the support we need, around $4,000, this will be our first ‘Triple B’ satellite location, exciting stuff! All of it made possible by your prayers and generous financial support. Currently, we are still raising funds to send Bibles and books to Farmington Correctional Center A Side in Missouri, Baker Re-Entry and Work Camp in Florida, Richland Parish Detention Center in Louisiana, CH Hazlewood in the Texas Prison System, and the Atascadero Maximum Security State Mental Hospital in California. Hopefully these will go out in the beginning of next week with your help. Over in our Free Bible Program, we send out more free Ruckman Reference Bibles to individuals in need who request them from around the world each year than anyone.

There is a prisoner who is serving about 30 yrs at Limestone Prison who desperately needs a Ruckman Study Bible and encouragement, and can we help?

We have sent lots of Bibles to Chaplain Billy Crenshaw in the past, he’s a former prison chaplain in Alabama that God called to minister in two area hospitals, and who just may be called back to the jails in the near future. Chap wrote to us with an urgent one-off request for a prisoner at the Limestone Correctional Facility, he needs a good Study Bible and some encouragement.

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” Acts 20:32 (KJB)

Chaplain Billy writes: “There is a prisoner who is serving about 30 yrs at Limestone Prison who desperately needs a Ruckman Study Bible.  I am friends with his mother she was telling me how much he needs a good study bible and encouragement. Thank You so very much for your help.  I was once in the jail ministry and it looks like I may heading that way again. Currently I am the Hospital Chaplain at two East Alabama Health Hospitals and their Nursing Home (formerly East Alabama Medical Center) that you were kind enough to send Bibles to before. Please let me know if you can send him a bible.” That Bible went out today and along with it a copy of ‘Justified Outlaw’ in the hopes that he will be both encouraged and motivated to respond to the call of the LORD. This week we sent out a massive amount of Bibles and books, but none more important than this single Bible needed by just one more soul. Some of the inmates in many of the places we send Bible to have done some really bad things, but Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross at Calvary for the vilest offender. This is why we send out King James Bibles!

There are few things scarier than summoning up pictures in your mind of a state-run, maximum security mental hospital for violent offenders and the criminally insane. Movies like ‘Inception’ and ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ are two of the ones I think of. Truly scary stuff. But what Hollywood doesn’t show you, and never will show you, is the incredible work that’s being done by prison chaplains in places like Atascadero to see the inmate patients get saved by giving them the gospel and a King James Bible.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 (KJB)

Chaplain Anderson at the Atascadero Maximum Security State Forensics Hospital In California reached out to us a short time ago, wondering if we could supply them with King James Bibles, and I told him we would be happy to do that. As I sit here writing this article, King James Bibles are now also being sent to the Northwest Florida Reception Center Main Unit in Chipley, Florida, the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Milton, Florida, and to the Dominguez State Jail in San Antonio, Texas. We never seem to come to the end of our list because new facilities are reaching out every week to us. Some of the inmates in many of the places we send Bible to have done some really bad things, but Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross at Calvary for the vilest offender. These are the people we are reaching with King James Bibles, New Testaments, scripture portions and our brand-new NTEB ‘Book Box’, and we have seen hundreds of them come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
